Digitizing school records without losing a term

The usual mistake is trying to type every old report into a new system before week two. The current session then still runs on paper, and staff conclude “the computer is extra work.”

Start with this session only: classes, subjects, staff logins, and this term’s students. Historical archives can wait in a cupboard until the live term is stable.

Clean names once. Duplicate “Chinedu O.” entries will haunt attendance and results. Give one person — often the exams officer or a trusted admin — ownership of the class list.

Run a parallel term: paper stays as backup; teachers enter CA in the system. Publish to a handful of parent accounts before you announce the portal at PTA.

SchoolKyber is built around that sequence: records and results first, parent visibility second, CBT later on Premium. Don’t skip the boring setup.
